
About the College
In alignment with the national policy aimed at transforming higher education in Iraq—from traditional universities to modern institutions that meet global standards through the adoption and integration of innovative practices to ensure educational quality—the establishment of the College of Basic Education in Al-Shirqat was officially approved on July 30, 2012. This approval was granted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as per the Ministry’s letter issued by the Directorate of Studies, Planning, and Follow-up / Department of Studies and Planning, reference number TM3/4704 dated July 30, 2012, and received by Tikrit University.
Accordingly, the college was designated as one of the constituent colleges of Tikrit University under University Order No. 1917 dated August 1, 2012. The college comprises five academic departments:
• Department of Arabic Language
• Department of Mathematics
• Department of Science (including specializations in Biology and Chemistry)
• Department of English Language
• Department of Islamic Education
The College of Basic Education upholds a humanitarian mission realized through the preparation of a strong generation equipped with scientific and intellectual awareness, capable of enriching society with creative and added capacities through its vital role in educating and nurturing the youth. Sectoral bodies undertake the tasks of planning, organizing, and monitoring—beginning with branches and departments and extending to colleges—by designing and developing curricula in alignment with cognitive advancement and future developments. They also ensure the provision of material resources and qualified academic staff, employing all modern educational methods and approaches to enhance learning. This includes experimenting with innovative educational models such as contemporary continuing education, self-directed learning, and educational technologies, all aimed at facilitating the learning process and providing appropriate educational opportunities for every student.
1. Professionally preparing students to become successful educators who are fully aware of their role in teaching and nurturing future generations.
2. Supporting the national educational and scientific trajectory by providing specialized teachers in various fields of knowledge according to their areas of expertise.
3. Developing and refining students' skills to effectively apply them within the practical educational field.
4. Training students in scientific research methodologies.
5. Encouraging faculty members to engage in authorship, translation, and publication.
6. Modernizing traditional administrative systems by transitioning to electronic management and integrating with global networks.
7. Implementing quality assurance and accreditation programs in accordance with international standards.
The College of Basic Education represents a natural extension of our nation’s rich educational heritage, distinguished by its enduring contributions. It is committed to advancing pedagogical knowledge and its practical applications concerning both the teacher and the learner. The college fulfills its humanitarian mission on the basis of rigorous scientific foundations, drawing inspiration from a luminous educational legacy, alongside the contemporary efforts of its faculty members actively engaged in the field. Through this, it seeks to contribute meaningfully to the comprehensive development of Iraqi society.
